Printer offline on Windows: how to fix it (quick steps)
Windows printer offline errors are usually network discovery, a stuck queue, or driver issues. Try these steps in order to get printing again.
Start with the boring stuff first. Most “offline” printers are online—they’re just stuck.
1) Power cycle printer + PC
Turn the printer off for 30 seconds, then back on.
2) Clear the print queue
On Windows:
- Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners
- Select your printer → Open print queue → Cancel all
3) Uncheck “Use Printer Offline"
In the print queue window, check Printer menu options.
4) Reconnect Wi‑Fi / USB
If it’s Wi‑Fi, reconnect the printer to the correct network.
5) If it’s a cheap printer and you’re done fighting it
Sometimes replacement is cheaper than hours of troubleshooting.
